Swing-lovers, gin aficionados and hotel guests should all make merry as they find The Chesterfield Mayfair’s Terrace Bar transformed into an intimate jazz setting on the 17th May (with performances on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month thereafter). Capturing the elegance of the Art Deco era, the bar will tinkle to the sound of countless gin cocktails (especially curated to include some “smoky” numbers), as well as the ivories of John the pianist and his sultry four-piece band.
Accompanied by fabulous complimentary canapés that play on fun, summery themes, as well as refreshing Miller’s G&Ts and martinis. Featuring 10 different botanicals (juniper, coriander, angelica root, orange and lemon peel, lime oil, orris root, cassia bark, ground nutmeg, liquorice and cucumber), this premium gin makes delicious cocktails, which are expertly prepared with a generous dose of theatre (think dry ice and smoky ingredients) by Head Barman, Edgar Serra Pou.
This spring and summer, soak up the sophisticated atmosphere, let the syncopated melodies wash over you and sip on a curated menu of drinks that have taken months of experimentation to perfect. There are few better ways to enjoy the season’s longer days and balmy evenings.
Gin & Jazz, 7.15-9pm, is not a ticketed event, so feel free to stroll into the intimate atmosphere of The Terrace at any time. And if The Chesterfield Mayfair captures your imagination, why not book one of the 13 luxurious suites, where some possess the pinstripes of Savile Row and others the vibrancy of the African savannah.
