London’s Best Christmas Pantomimes in 2016

Christmas in London just isn’t complete until you’ve paid a visit to the theatre to catch one of the season’s iconic pantomimes. With this year’s offering featuring all-star casts, offbeat adaptations of classic stories and some of the best-loved musicals around, there’s no better time to pick up tickets. We take a look at the best Christmas pantomimes to see this year while staying nearby at one of our luxurious London hotels.

Peter Pan

This classic story by JM Barrie, featuring the unforgettable characters Tinker Bell, Wendy, Captain Hook and Peter Pan (aka the boy who never grows up), is being retold at the National Theatre this winter. Following on from the director Sally Cookson’s sell-out run at Bristol Old Vic, it promises to be a big hit.

Aladdin

Telling the much loved story of a boy who meets a genie and is granted three wishes, before setting off on his flying carpet to find his princess, this entertaining performance of Aladdin promises to be one filled with live music and laughter.

Christmas Pantomimes

The Snowman

A nostalgic favourite among audiences of all ages, The Snowman tells the tale of the friendship between a boy and his snowman and the adventure they set out on together. With a soundtrack that’s known across the globe, this Raymond Briggs story features live music composed by Howard Blake OBE.

Cinderella

The classic fairy tale of scullery maid Cinderella who triumphs over her cruel stepsisters will be given a comedic twist with a star-studded cast including celebrated comedians and actors Paul O’Grady as the Wicked Stepmother, and Julien Clary as Dandini, plus Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden who plays the Fairy Godmother.

Christmas Pantomimes

Potted Panto 

If deciding between these Christmas pantomimes is proving difficult, Potted Panto is the show to go for, with its energetic performance bringing seven classic stories together in 80 minutes. With the help of costume changes and props, the stories will be energetically told by Potted Panto cast Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner.

Mr Popper’s Penguins

Based on the novel by Richard and Florence Atwater, this show follows the story of Mr and Mrs Popper and their family of performing penguins, with original music throughout each act and the addition of performing penguin puppets.
